Cedars Manor School - School Prospectus

Welcome to Cedars Manor School; a happy place where expectations are high and individuals are valued. We are an inclusive school for pupils aged 3 to 11 and we have an additional resource base for pupils with hearing impairment.

There has been a school on this site since 1948 when it was built shortly after the Second World War. Most of the surrounding houses were also built at this time too. As a result, we have many families who have lived close to the school for several years. We are also fortunate to have pupils from all over the World and between us speak 33 different languages! We are proud to have achieved the Level 1 Rights Respecting School Award which is part of Unicef’s Rights of the Child convention.

At Cedars, we have high aspirations for every child that comes to our school. Our team of highly dedicated and caring staff work hard to ensure that every child achieves the best that they possibly can. We encourage and support all our families so that by working together we can help all our pupils to leave our school as happy and confident individuals who will go on to even greater successes as they move onto the next stage of their learning.

Foundation Stage Curriculum

Our Reception class children follow their own Foundation stage curriculum which leads into the National Curriculum.

In their first year at school children work towards achieving the Early Learning Goals in the following areas.

Personal, social and emotional development
Communication and language
Mathematical development
Understanding the world
Physical development
Expressive arts and design

Every child is special and has their own unique talents. At Cedars Manor we enable all children to fulfil their potential and have high aspirations. Whilst we recognise that children are assessed continuously throughout Early Years. They are assessed against the Early Learning Goals (ELG) described in the Foundation Stage Profile.
